Digital Product Engineering
We build client software the way we build our own products: small releases, tests written from real use, and monitoring from the first day in production.
Questions we help answer
- Should we build this tool, or is there a product that already does most of it?
- What is the smallest version we can put in front of real users, and what will it tell us?
- Who will own the code, the hosting and the data when the build is finished?
- How do we know an AI assistant gives correct answers to the questions customers actually ask?
- What will it cost to keep running after launch?
What we do
Product scoping
The problem, users, data and success measure written down before design, with a build-or-buy comparison against existing products.
Web applications and internal tools
Applications on modern frameworks such as Next.js with managed hosting, replacing spreadsheet processes and manual steps.
Multilingual sites and customer platforms
Customer-facing sites and platforms in several languages, with content, structured data and analytics set up per market.
AI features with regression tests
Assistants that answer only from the business's own content, tested against a bank of real questions before release and after every change.
Run and maintain
Monitoring, dependency updates and scheduled checks after launch, or a documented handover to your team.

How we approach it
- 01
Scope to the first useful release
The first release does the smallest job that real users can test, so the next decision rests on usage data.
- 02
Write tests from real use
Realistic inputs from customers and staff become the test suite, and every failure found later becomes a permanent test.
- 03
Keep test traffic out of production
Preview builds run against test endpoints, so a test form submission or payment never reaches a live inbox, ledger or analytics property.
- 04
Hand over in your accounts
Repositories, hosting and third-party services are held in your name from the start, with documentation your developers can work from.

Listing platform prototype and build specification for a cross-border property agency
A licensed property agency selling homes and investment property in several countries wanted one platform for its own stock, partner listings and new developments. We built a clickable prototype, a headless storefront build and a written specification for the full listing and enquiry platform.

Launch program for a new fine jewellery brand, from positioning to storefront and production equipment
A young jewellery brand preparing to sell direct to consumers engaged us for a multi-phase launch program. So far that has produced the brand position, a built storefront, the sales and social accounts, a product render standard and a purchase recommendation for in-house casting equipment.
Positioning, storefront and equipment decision delivered; brand not yet launched

Audit, measurement repair and paid media relaunch for a design-objects online brand
An online brand selling high-ticket decorative design objects commissioned an audit and put it through an independent quality review. It then had us carry out the findings one ticket at a time and relaunch its search and social advertising.
Fixes verified in production; paid relaunch results not yet measured

How an engagement with THEFOCUS starts
A first conversation is about your situation. If there is a fit, we propose a scoped diagnostic with a fixed deliverable before any larger commitment.
Discuss this with us01
A working conversation
Forty-five minutes with the person who would lead the work. We ask about the decision, the systems behind it and the deadline.
02
A scoped diagnostic
Read-only access, a fixed timeframe and a written finding: what the records show, what it costs and what to change first.
03
A plan you can act on
Changes, owners, measures and exclusions in writing. The same team then builds and measures, or hands over cleanly.
- One accountable team
- The people who diagnose also build the systems and measure the result.
- Partners chosen per problem
- Independent specialists join for the parts that need them, under one contract.
- Records before dashboards
- Orders, ledgers and logs are reconciled before any recommendation depends on them.
Questions executives ask
What have you built for yourselves?
We run LocalBoostHQ, a live service for local businesses, and have built FuelVeriq, a pre-launch demonstration of fuel quality and supply-integrity records with pilot enquiries open. FINMETRA, a financial-data product, is in design.
Who owns the code?
You do. Code sits in your repository and runs on hosting contracted in your name from the first commit.
Can you work with our in-house developers?
Yes. We can lead the build with your developers, write specifications and tests for them, or review their releases against agreed acceptance criteria.
