Business Intelligence & Reporting
A dashboard keeps its credibility only until a director checks a figure against the bank. We make sure that figure holds.
Questions we help answer
- Which numbers should the leadership team see every Monday, and where does each one come from?
- Why does the dashboard disagree with the management accounts, and can we trust either?
- How do we stop assembling the monthly pack by hand from exports?
- Can we see performance by product, channel and market without commissioning a new analysis each time?
- Who is told when a key figure moves outside its normal range, and how quickly?
What we do
Reporting design
A reporting hierarchy from board pack to operational dashboards, with each view tied to a decision and a named owner.
Dashboard build
Dashboards in tools such as Looker Studio or Power BI, built on reconciled data models, with platform connectors used only where they match source totals.
Automated reporting packs
Weekly and monthly packs generated on a schedule, with space for commentary from the finance and commercial leads.
Alerting
Threshold checks on key metrics with the baseline written into each rule, so an alert states how far a figure moved and from where.

How we approach it
- 01
Start from the decision
Each view exists because someone takes a named decision with it. Views without a decision are left out of the first release.
- 02
Reconcile before visualising
Figures are agreed with the ledger and the order book before any chart is built, and remaining differences are listed with their cause.
- 03
Show definitions on the page
Each tile carries its definition and source, so a reader can tell platform-reported revenue from recorded revenue.
- 04
Segment before alarming
Rates are split by channel or traffic source before an alert fires, so a new campaign bringing low-intent visitors does not read as a fall in conversion across the business.

Listing platform prototype and build specification for a cross-border property agency
A licensed property agency selling homes and investment property in several countries wanted one platform for its own stock, partner listings and new developments. We built a clickable prototype, a headless storefront build and a written specification for the full listing and enquiry platform.

Launch program for a new fine jewellery brand, from positioning to storefront and production equipment
A young jewellery brand preparing to sell direct to consumers engaged us for a multi-phase launch program. So far that has produced the brand position, a built storefront, the sales and social accounts, a product render standard and a purchase recommendation for in-house casting equipment.

Audit, measurement repair and paid media relaunch for a design-objects online brand
An online brand selling high-ticket decorative design objects commissioned an audit and put it through an independent quality review. It then had us carry out the findings one ticket at a time and relaunch its search and social advertising.
Fixes verified in production; paid relaunch results not yet measured

How an engagement with THEFOCUS starts
A first conversation is about your situation. If there is a fit, we propose a scoped diagnostic with a fixed deliverable before any larger commitment.

A working conversation
Forty-five minutes with the person who would lead the work. We ask about the decision, the systems behind it and the deadline.
02
A scoped diagnostic
Read-only access, a fixed timeframe and a written finding: what the records show, what it costs and what to change first.
03
A plan you can act on
Changes, owners, measures and exclusions in writing. The same team then builds and measures, or hands over cleanly.
- One accountable team
- The people who diagnose also build the systems and measure the result.
- Partners chosen per problem
- Independent specialists join for the parts that need them, under one contract.
- Records before dashboards
- Orders, ledgers and logs are reconciled before any recommendation depends on them.
Questions executives ask
Which BI tool do you use?
Whichever your team already licenses and can maintain, where it is adequate. The data model and definitions matter more to the result than the charting tool, and they move with you if you change tools later.
Can you fix our existing dashboards rather than rebuild them?
Often, yes. We reconcile each existing figure to its source first. Views whose numbers hold are kept, and only those that cannot be reconciled are rebuilt.
