What this policy covers

This policy explains how THEFOCUS LTD uses cookies and similar technologies, such as browser local storage, on thefocus.solutions. In this policy "cookies" covers all of these technologies. UK law on cookies is set by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), and where cookies involve personal data, the UK GDPR also applies. Our Privacy notice explains how we handle personal data more generally.

Our approach

The site works without any optional cookies. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you accept, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics are not loaded, and no analytics cookies are set.

We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, cross-site tracking or device fingerprinting.

Since 5 February 2026, PECR, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, allows some analytics to run without consent where it is used only to produce statistics for improving a website and visitors are given clear information and a simple, free way to object. We have chosen to ask for your consent before any analytics runs.

Strictly necessary storage

This storage is needed for the site to work as you request, so it does not require consent.

  • tf-consent (browser local storage, set by THEFOCUS): records whether you accepted or refused analytics cookies, so we do not ask again on every page. Kept for 12 months, after which we ask again. It is not used for any other purpose.
  • Cloudflare security cookies such as __cf_bm (set by Cloudflare, only if Cloudflare's bot protection is triggered for your connection): distinguish people from automated traffic to protect the site. Usually last up to 30 minutes.

Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

If you accept analytics, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics 4, which sets the following first-party cookies on thefocus.solutions:

  • _ga: distinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_<container ID>: keeps the state of the current session for the same purpose. Expires after 2 years.

We use the results to understand which pages are read, how visitors reach the site, which devices and browsers they use and roughly where they are at country or region level, so we can improve the content and structure of the site. We see aggregated reports, not information about identifiable individuals.

Google acts as our service provider for Google Analytics. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses; it uses them to derive approximate location. We have not enabled Google signals or advertising features, and we have not linked Google Analytics to any advertising account.

Google Consent Mode

We use Google Consent Mode v2. Before you make a choice, the four consent signals it controls (analytics_storage, ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization) are set to denied. If you accept analytics, only analytics_storage changes to granted. The three advertising signals stay denied because the site does not use advertising cookies.

How to change your choice

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer of every page. If you withdraw consent, analytics stops on your next page load and we remove the analytics cookies the site can access.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary storage means the site cannot remember your choice and will ask again.

Changes to this policy

If we add a cookie, change how long one lasts or start using one for a new purpose, we will update this policy before doing so. Where a change needs your consent, we will ask for it again through the banner.
