Brand Strategy & Positioning

We write positioning a sales team can say and an ad can test, and check it against what buyers search for and what competitors already claim.

Questions we help answer

What we do

  • Competitive positioning map

How competitors describe themselves in public ad libraries, marketplace listings and search results, set against the words buyers use in queries and reviews.

  • Proposition and messaging

A proposition for each customer segment with its proof points, and a tone of voice guide your team and suppliers can apply.

  • Brand architecture for groups

How related businesses, sites and product lines should be named and connected, with the effect on search, ad accounts and customer records stated for each option.

  • Claims review

Every claim on the site, in ads and in sales material matched to its evidence, with unsupported claims rewritten or removed.

  • Launch assets and copy

Site and ad copy in the brand's voice across languages, with identity, templates and creative produced through specialist partners where the brief needs them.

How we approach it

  1. 01

    Listen before writing

Search queries, review text, sales call notes and lost-deal reasons show what buyers already think, before any workshop.

  2. 02

    Write for use

Messages are drafted as ad copy, page sections and sales talking points, so the positioning reaches the places customers meet it.

  3. 03

    Test in the market

Competing messages run as ad variants and are read on recorded leads and orders, with the result written back into the brand document.

  4. 04

    Keep it consistent

One brand document and a set of templates govern the site, ads, profiles and directories, and a periodic check finds the places that have drifted.

How an engagement with THEFOCUS starts

A first conversation is about your situation. If there is a fit, we propose a scoped diagnostic with a fixed deliverable before any larger commitment.

  1. 01

    A working conversation

Forty-five minutes with the person who would lead the work. We ask about the decision, the systems behind it and the deadline.

  2. 02

    A scoped diagnostic

Read-only access, a fixed timeframe and a written finding: what the records show, what it costs and what to change first.

  3. 03

A plan you can act on

Changes, owners, measures and exclusions in writing. The same team then builds and measures, or hands over cleanly.

One accountable team
The people who diagnose also build the systems and measure the result.
Partners chosen per problem
Independent specialists join for the parts that need them, under one contract.
Records before dashboards
Orders, ledgers and logs are reconciled before any recommendation depends on them.

Questions executives ask

Do you design logos and visual identities?

We write the positioning, messaging and brief, and produce identity and creative through specialist design partners chosen for the engagement. An existing logo is used as supplied unless you commission a redesign.

How do you know the positioning works?

By testing it. Competing messages run as ad and page variants, and the version that produces more recorded leads or orders at a comparable cost goes into the brand document.
