Metals, Mining & Natural Resources

In metals and mining, value depends on records that pass through many hands: assays, weighbridge tickets, stockpile surveys, shipping documents and offtake invoices. When those records disagree, the gap shows up as a provisional price adjustment, a grade dispute or an unexplained loss between mine and port. We connect them so tonnage, grade and cost can be traced from source to sale. We have not yet published an engagement in this sector.

Market context

Business challenges

  1. 01

Tonnage and grade that drift between stages

Mine, mill, stockpile and port measure tonnage and grade with different methods and at different times. Without a reconciliation that keeps each measurement with its method, a loss between stages cannot be located.

  2. 02

    Provisional pricing settled late

Concentrate and metal sales are often invoiced provisionally and settled on final assays and quotational periods. If those terms sit in contract files, finance cannot see the open exposure on each shipment.

  3. 03

    Origin and custody on paper

Buyers and authorities ask where material came from and who held it. When origin and custody records are spread across shipping documents, email and supplier certificates, assembling them is slow and checking them is harder.

  4. 04

Cost per tonne known after the event

Fuel, reagents, power and contractor costs are allocated to sites and processes at month end, so cost per tonne arrives after the production decisions it should have informed.

Where the opportunity sits

Stage-by-stage reconciliation

A model that holds each tonnage and grade measurement with its method, time and source shows where the material balance breaks and by how much.

Open pricing exposure per shipment

Joining contract terms, provisional invoices, assays and quotational periods shows the unsettled value of each shipment and the date it will settle.

Evidence trails for origin and custody

Linking each lot to its source measurements, custody transfers and documents, with file hashes and an audit history, gives buyers and auditors a record they can check. FuelVeriq, our pre-launch MVP, takes this approach to fuel quality records. It has not been built or tested for minerals or metals.

How we approach it

We start read-only with the records that travel with the material: production and survey data, laboratory assays, weighbridge and shipping documents, sales contracts and the finance ledger. We follow one lot from extraction or purchase to invoice and final settlement, and note where tonnage, grade or price is changed by hand. Findings become a prioritized task list, each item with an owner and an acceptance check. If the client wants us to build, the same team delivers the reconciliations, registers and reports, documented and left in the client's own accounts. Geology, resource and reserve estimation, mine planning, metallurgical testing, sampling certification and responsible-sourcing audits stay with qualified specializts.

How our experience is evidenced

No anonymised engagement in metals, mining or natural resources is published. This page describes our approach and the capabilities we would apply: data integration, reconciliation, financial reporting and evidence records. FuelVeriq, which shows the evidence-trail approach, is a pre-launch MVP for fuel only, with no deployments.

Questions executives ask

Have you worked with mining or metals companies?

We have not published an anonymised engagement in this sector. A proposal would state which parts of the work we have done in other sectors and which would be new.

Can FuelVeriq be used to trace minerals?

Not today. FuelVeriq is a pre-launch MVP demonstration for fuel quality and supply-integrity records, running on synthetic data with no deployments. Its way of linking measurements, custody and documents in one case file applies to commodity integrity, but any use for minerals would be new work, scoped and tested separately.

Do you certify origin or responsible sourcing?

No. Certification and audits belong to accredited bodies and assurance providers. We organize the records an auditor would ask for, so each claim about origin or custody points to its source document.

Do you estimate resources or reserves?

No. Resource and reserve estimates, mine plans and metallurgical work need qualified geologists and engineers. We work on the production, sales, cost and custody data that follows from them.
