Technology & Software

THEFOCUS writes, hosts and maintains software as well as advising on it. Our own products and client applications are small in scale. They are where we test the measurement, testing and delivery practices we recommend to others.

Market context

Business challenges

  1. 01

Funnel data each team defines differently

Signup, trial and activation events are often defined one way in the product, another in the billing system and a third in the ad platforms, so every team reports a different funnel.

  2. 02

AI features shipped before the controls

A language-model feature needs test sets, failure handling and data-protection decisions. Smaller teams often ship the feature first and add those later, if at all.

  3. 03

Public claims ahead of the product

Marketing pages that list integrations, certifications or uptime figures the product cannot yet support create exposure with buyers, partners and regulators.

  4. 04

Tests that pass while users hit errors

A green test suite can confirm that requests are routed correctly while real users still meet crashes and wrong answers. Tests written from real inputs catch what routing tests miss.

Where the opportunity sits

Capability statements that match the code

A public page listing what the product does, what it does not do yet and what has not been verified gives buyers something firm to rely on. FuelVeriq publishes one.

Regression tests from real questions

For conversational or generative features, a bank of real user questions with must and must-not assertions, rerun on every change, catches failures before customers do.

Measurement designed with the product

Defining events, consent handling and revenue reconciliation before launch avoids rebuilding analytics once the product has users.

How we approach it

We work in small, accountable increments. A short diagnostic covers product analytics, release and testing practice, data handling and the claims the product makes in public. Where a client wants us to build, we deliver working software with tests written from real inputs and a written statement of what has and has not been verified. Recent builds have used Next.js hosted on Netlify. Larger engineering programs are staffed from our network of independent specializt partners, assembled for the engagement and led by the same accountable core team.

How our experience is evidenced

Evidenced mainly by our own products, FuelVeriq (a pre-launch MVP) and LocalBoostHQ (a live service brand with UK and Turkish sites), both built and operated by THEFOCUS. We have also built web applications and websites for clients, including a multilingual web application and business sites with grounded chat assistants. We do not yet have a completed advisory engagement with a software company to point to.

Questions executives ask

Do you build software for clients or only advise?

Both. We have built client websites and web applications, and we run our own products. Larger builds are staffed with independent specializt partners under one accountable lead.

Which stacks do you work with?

Recent builds have used Next.js on Netlify, Shopify for commerce, and GA4 and Google Search Console for measurement. We choose the stack per engagement and document the reasons.

Can you help us add AI features to our product?

We can scope and build language-model features with test banks drawn from real user questions and clear limits on what the feature will answer. We do not offer predictive AI that we have not built and tested ourselves.

How mature are your own products?

LocalBoostHQ is a live service brand. FuelVeriq is a pre-launch MVP with pilot enquiries open. FocusADS.ai is in development, Flowlora is being relaunched and FINMETRA is in design. Each product page states its stage.
