Verified buyer sourcing and sales-channel comparison for a small agricultural grower

A small grower holding a few tonnes of a new-season crop asked for verified firms that buy direct from producers. We built the list from official membership registries and showed that the choice of sales channel mattered more than the choice of buyer.

Context

A small independent grower in Türkiye with a single lot of an in-shell crop to sell at the start of the season.

The challenge

Search results surface large exporters and retail sellers, few of which buy small lots from growers. The grower needed buyers who genuinely take producer lots, with contact details that work, and needed to know whether a private buyer was the right route at all.

Our approach

We compared the official buying channels with the free market using dated price announcements. The state buyer and the producer cooperatives were paying well above private traders that season, and the binding limit was the state buyer's appointment capacity rather than its price. We then enumerated buyers from chamber, commodity exchange, geographic-indication and cooperative registries, which do not rank in search, instead of trusting search order.

What we implemented

Research ran in parallel by region under one set of rules: no invented company, phone or person; two independent sources for every phone number or an explicit single-source flag; retail and roasted-product sellers excluded; and a source beside every claim. A firm counted as a producer buyer only on documented evidence, such as a named producer purchasing unit or a published in-shell quality standard. We re-checked the top-ranked claims live and corrected three before delivery, including a stale price ticker read as current.

Outcome

The grower received the channel comparison with acceptance conditions and the appointment route, a graded buyer list, a ranked call order, a phone script and a separate list of candidates that could not be verified. Whether and where the lot was sold was not recorded, so no sale result is claimed.

Highlights

  • Buyers enumerated from official membership registries, with search order ignored
  • Every phone number confirmed by two independent sources or flagged as single-source
  • Three claims corrected by live re-checking before the list was handed over
  • Unverifiable candidates listed separately instead of padding the main list

How an engagement with THEFOCUS starts

A first conversation is about your situation. If there is a fit, we propose a scoped diagnostic with a fixed deliverable before any larger commitment.

Discuss this with us
  1. 01

    A working conversation

Forty-five minutes with the person who would lead the work. We ask about the decision, the systems behind it and the deadline.

  2. 02

    A scoped diagnostic

Read-only access, a fixed timeframe and a written finding: what the records show, what it costs and what to change first.

  3. 03

A plan you can act on

Changes, owners, measures and exclusions in writing. The same team then builds and measures, or hands over cleanly.

One accountable team
The people who diagnose also build the systems and measure the result.
Partners chosen per problem
Independent specialists join for the parts that need them, under one contract.
Records before dashboards
Orders, ledgers and logs are reconciled before any recommendation depends on them.
