Medical & Wellness Tourism

For clinics, facilitators and wellness hotels serving international patients. We build the enquiry, package costing and coordination data behind each trip.

Our perspective

An international patient decides months before arrival, through messages, video consultations, a facilitator and a quote that bundles treatment, hotel, transfers and an interpreter. Most clinics count enquiries and procedures but cannot connect an enquiry to an arrival, or the package price to what the hotel, the transfer and the aftercare actually cost. Türkiye, the Gulf and several European countries compete for the same patients, and waiting lists at home keep demand high. The providers that grow over the next decade will be the ones that know their cost per arrival and their margin per package by market. We build the enquiry, costing and coordination records that show it, and leave clinical matters entirely with clinicians.

Market signals

  • 01

1,398,580 people visited Türkiye for healthcare in 2025, down from 1,506,442 in 2024, while health tourism revenue held at about US$3.02 billion in both years. Revenue per visitor therefore rose.

  • 02

Türkiye's tourism income rose 6.8% to US$65.2 billion in 2025, from 63.9 million departing visitors.

  • 03

The NHS England waiting list for consultant-led treatment stood at 7.37 million cases in August 2026, with around 2.56 million patients waiting more than 18 weeks.

What changes next

  1. Value per patient matters more than volume

Türkiye's 2025 figures show fewer health visitors with the same revenue. Over the next 12 to 18 months providers that know margin per package and per market will decide where to spend on marketing, and those that count only enquiries will keep buying the cheapest leads.

  2. Advertising rules tighten across markets

Health services advertising is restricted in Türkiye, the UK, the EU and the Gulf, and platforms enforce their own policies on top. Clinics that keep a register of approved claims per market will spend less time on rejected ads and complaints.

  3. Wellness and medical stays converge

Hotels and resorts are adding recovery, wellness and longevity programs alongside clinical partners. The commercial model will depend on clear agreements on who is responsible for what, and on costing the combined stay correctly.

Business challenges

  1. 01

    Enquiries counted, arrivals unexplained

Campaigns are reported on messages and form fills. Without enquiry-to-arrival tracking, a market that produces many enquiries and few patients keeps its budget.

  2. 02

    Package prices that miss costs

Quotes bundle treatment, hotel and transfers, but facilitator commission, interpreter time, currency movements and aftercare are added later. The margin on a package is known only after the patient has gone home.

  3. 03

    Patient messages spread across phones

Coordinators answer on personal or shared messaging accounts. The clinic loses the record of what was promised, and health data sits outside any controlled system.

  4. 04

    Claims written for clicks

Ad copy and landing pages written to attract enquiries can breach health advertising rules in the source market. The clinic finds out when ads are rejected or a complaint arrives.

  5. 05

    Dependence on facilitators

Facilitators bring patients but hold the relationship and set the price the patient sees. Without data on each facilitator's arrivals and margin, the clinic cannot compare them with its own channels.

Where the opportunity sits

Budget moved to markets that arrive

Arrivals and margin per market and channel show where to spend and where to cut, in each language and currency.

Packages priced on full cost

Costing every element of a package before quoting protects margin when currencies move and shows which bundles are worth promoting.

Facilitators compared with direct channels

Recording arrivals, cancellations and margin per facilitator gives the clinic evidence for commission terms and for building its own channels.

How we approach it

We start read-only with the CRM, messaging exports, ad accounts, quotes, facilitator agreements, hotel and transfer invoices and the finance system. We follow one patient from first message to aftercare follow-up and one month of packages from quote to final cost, and note where data is copied or lost. Findings become a prioritised task list, each item with an owner and an acceptance check. If the client wants us to build, the same team delivers the tracking, CRM and messaging integration, costing model and campaigns, documented and left in the client's own accounts. We work with hotels and travel businesses, which helps on the accommodation and transfer side of a package. Clinical advice, diagnosis, treatment decisions, patient selection, medical claims, health tourism authorisation, accreditation, medical malpractice and travel insurance, and legal or tax advice stay with licensed clinicians, the authorities and the client's own advisers.

How our experience is evidenced

Medical and wellness tourism is a frontier sector where THEFOCUS applies its capabilities in enquiry tracking, costing, operations and data. No anonymised engagement in this sector is published, and no results are claimed. THEFOCUS does not provide clinical or medical advice. LocalBoostHQ, our live service brand for local businesses, offers website, local search and advertising work suited to single clinics. FocusADS.ai is in development and is not offered today.

How an engagement with THEFOCUS starts

A first conversation is about your situation. If there is a fit, we propose a scoped diagnostic with a fixed deliverable before any larger commitment.

Discuss this with us
  1. 01

    A working conversation

Forty-five minutes with the person who would lead the work. We ask about the decision, the systems behind it and the deadline.

  2. 02

    A scoped diagnostic

Read-only access, a fixed timeframe and a written finding: what the records show, what it costs and what to change first.

  3. 03

A plan you can act on

Changes, owners, measures and exclusions in writing. The same team then builds and measures, or hands over cleanly.

One accountable team
The people who diagnose also build the systems and measure the result.
Partners chosen per problem
Independent specialists join for the parts that need them, under one contract.
Records before dashboards
Orders, ledgers and logs are reconciled before any recommendation depends on them.

Questions executives ask

Do you give medical advice or recommend treatments?

No. Diagnosis, treatment decisions and patient suitability belong to licensed clinicians. We work on enquiries, costs, coordination and data, and never on clinical content.

Can you run our international advertising?

We can set up and run campaigns by market with enquiry-to-arrival tracking, using claims your advisers have approved for each market. Ads that make medical claims are outside what we write.

Which markets do you work in?

We have worked with organisations in the United Kingdom, Türkiye, the Gulf, Australia and the United States, and medical travel flows run between several of them. We set up tracking and costing per source market and currency.

We are a hotel adding wellness or recovery stays. Is this relevant?

Yes. We cost the combined stay, set up booking and enquiry tracking and help define the commercial terms with clinical partners. Clinical responsibility stays with the licensed provider.
