Technology Strategy & Architecture
We draw the architecture from the records the business already produces, then decide what to keep, replace or connect, in an order the business can afford.
Questions we help answer
- Which of our systems is the authoritative record for orders, customers, stock and revenue, and which ones only copy it?
- Should we replace our commerce or ERP platform, or fix how the current one is connected?
- What will our technology estate cost to run over three years, including subscriptions, apps and the people who maintain it?
- In what order should we change systems so that reporting keeps working during the move?
- Which parts should we build, which should we buy, and which should we switch off?
What we do
System-of-record mapping
A map of every system that creates, copies or reports on a business record, with the owner, the direction of each data flow and the points where records are re-keyed by hand.
Platform selection
Commerce, CRM, ERP, analytics and hosting options compared against the processes and reports they must support, with migration effort and running cost stated for each, and one recommendation.
Target architecture and roadmap
A target state and a sequenced plan in which each step leaves reporting intact, with dependencies and the decision each step needs from leadership.
Technology cost review
An inventory of subscriptions, apps, licenses and hosting matched to invoices, with unused and duplicated spend listed by owner.

How we approach it
- 01
Trace before drawing
We follow a sample of real orders and invoices through the estate before drawing any diagram, so the architecture reflects what happens and the documentation is corrected where it differs.
- 02
Price the whole life
Each option carries its subscription, implementation, integration and maintenance cost, plus the cost of the reports and integrations it would break.
- 03
Sequence by dependency
Changes are ordered so the system of record moves once, and every interim state still reconciles to the ledger and the order book.
- 04
Close with a decision
The output names one recommended path and one alternative, with the reasons first, so leadership can approve or reject it in one meeting.

A licensed property agency selling homes and investment property in several countries wanted one platform for its own stock, partner listings and new developments. We built a clickable prototype, a headless storefront build and a written specification for the full listing and enquiry platform.

Launch program for a new fine jewellery brand, from positioning to storefront and production equipment
A young jewellery brand preparing to sell direct to consumers engaged us for a multi-phase launch program. So far that has produced the brand position, a built storefront, the sales and social accounts, a product render standard and a purchase recommendation for in-house casting equipment.

Audit, measurement repair and paid media relaunch for a design-objects online brand
An online brand selling high-ticket decorative design objects commissioned an audit and put it through an independent quality review. It then had us carry out the findings one ticket at a time and relaunch its search and social advertising.
Fixes verified in production; paid relaunch results not yet measured

How an engagement with THEFOCUS starts
A first conversation is about your situation. If there is a fit, we propose a scoped diagnostic with a fixed deliverable before any larger commitment.
Discuss this with us01
A working conversation
Forty-five minutes with the person who would lead the work. We ask about the decision, the systems behind it and the deadline.
02
A scoped diagnostic
Read-only access, a fixed timeframe and a written finding: what the records show, what it costs and what to change first.
03
A plan you can act on
Changes, owners, measures and exclusions in writing. The same team then builds and measures, or hands over cleanly.
- One accountable team
- The people who diagnose also build the systems and measure the result.
- Partners chosen per problem
- Independent specializts join for the parts that need them, under one contract.
- Records before dashboards
- Orders, ledgers and logs are reconciled before any recommendation depends on them.
Questions executives ask
Do you favor particular platforms?
We recommend the platform that fits the processes and reports it has to support. Each recommendation states running cost and migration effort, and subscriptions are set up in your own accounts so the cost stays visible to you.
Can you review a proposal we already have from a vendor?
Yes. We test the proposal against your real records and processes, list the assumptions it depends on, and price the integrations and reports it leaves out.
