Procurement & Sourcing

Savings agreed at the negotiating table are often lost in the purchase ledger. We start there, line by line, before any tender is written.

Questions we help answer

What we do

  • Spend analysis

The purchase ledger and supplier invoices classified by category, supplier and business unit, with contract coverage and duplicated suppliers shown.

  • Invoice and contract compliance

Invoiced prices, surcharges and terms checked line by line against contracts and price lists, with recoverable differences listed.

  • Sourcing and tender support

Category strategies, specifications, supplier long-lists, request-for-quotation packs and bid comparisons on total landed cost.

  • Supplier and buyer search

Identification and screening of suppliers, or buyers for a producer's output, in commodity and wholesale markets, with contact and verification records.

  • Purchasing controls

Approval rules, price-list maintenance and purchase-price checks set up in the purchasing or accounting system.

How we approach it

  1. 01

    Classify the real spend

We build the spend picture from invoices and the ledger, because purchase orders miss off-contract buying and card spend.

  2. 02

    Compare on landed cost

Bids are compared on price plus freight, duty, payment terms, minimum order quantities and quality risk, in a single currency at a stated rate.

  3. 03

Put the agreed price into the system

A negotiated price counts once it sits in the price list the purchasing system uses and an invoice check flags any line that differs.

  4. 04

    Verify suppliers before volume

Company registration, trading history, references and sample quality are checked before a new supplier receives a material order.

How an engagement with THEFOCUS starts

A first conversation is about your situation. If there is a fit, we propose a scoped diagnostic with a fixed deliverable before any larger commitment.

  1. 01

    A working conversation

Forty-five minutes with the person who would lead the work. We ask about the decision, the systems behind it and the deadline.

  2. 02

    A scoped diagnostic

Read-only access, a fixed timeframe and a written finding: what the records show, what it costs and what to change first.

  3. 03

A plan you can act on

Changes, owners, measures and exclusions in writing. The same team then builds and measures, or hands over cleanly.

One accountable team
The people who diagnose also build the systems and measure the result.
Partners chosen per problem
Independent specialists join for the parts that need them, under one contract.
Records before dashboards
Orders, ledgers and logs are reconciled before any recommendation depends on them.

Questions executives ask

Do you negotiate with suppliers on our behalf?

We prepare the evidence, the tender and the negotiation plan, and can join negotiations as advisers. Contracts are agreed and signed by you.

Can you help us find buyers as well as suppliers?

Yes. In commodity and wholesale supply we search for and screen buyers for a producer's output as well as suppliers for a buyer's needs, and keep a verification record for each contact.
