Market Entry & International Expansion
Most market entries fail on operational detail the business case never priced. We test the detail first, then build the store, settings and measurement the entry needs.
Questions we help answer
- Can we sell into this country profitably once duties, shipping, returns and local payment fees are counted?
- What tax registrations and invoicing changes does entry require before the first order?
- Is there search demand for what we sell there, and who already meets it?
- Should we enter through marketplaces, a local partner or our own store?
- What would make us pull back, and how would we know early?
What we do
Entry economics
Landed cost and contribution per order for the target market, including duties, shipping, returns, local payment methods and the cost of acquiring customers there.
Operational readiness
A checklist covering tax registration, invoicing, currency, payment methods, shipping zones, returns, language and customer service hours, with the owner of each gap.
Demand and competitor read
Search demand, marketplace presence and the offers, prices and delivery promises competitors already make in that market.
Entry build
Market settings, localised store and content, payment and shipping configuration, campaigns and measurement, built by the same team with local partners for language and regulation.

How we approach it
- 01
Price the operation first
We work out what an order costs to deliver, return and support in the new market before forecasting volume, because volume at a negative margin makes the decision worse.
- 02
Set exit criteria at entry
The plan states in advance the contribution and demand thresholds that would trigger scaling up, holding or withdrawing, and the date each will be read.
- 03
Build with local partners
Partners chosen for the market cover local language, tax registration questions and regulation, working to a scope THEFOCUS manages.

Verified buyer sourcing and sales-channel comparison for a small agricultural grower
A small grower holding a few tonnes of a new-season crop asked for verified firms that buy direct from producers. We built the list from official membership registries and showed that the choice of sales channel mattered more than the choice of buyer.

Launch program for a new fine jewellery brand, from positioning to storefront and production equipment
A young jewellery brand preparing to sell direct to consumers engaged us for a multi-phase launch program. So far that has produced the brand position, a built storefront, the sales and social accounts, a product render standard and a purchase recommendation for in-house casting equipment.

How an engagement with THEFOCUS starts
A first conversation is about your situation. If there is a fit, we propose a scoped diagnostic with a fixed deliverable before any larger commitment.

A working conversation
Forty-five minutes with the person who would lead the work. We ask about the decision, the systems behind it and the deadline.
02
A scoped diagnostic
Read-only access, a fixed timeframe and a written finding: what the records show, what it costs and what to change first.
03
A plan you can act on
Changes, owners, measures and exclusions in writing. The same team then builds and measures, or hands over cleanly.
- One accountable team
- The people who diagnose also build the systems and measure the result.
- Partners chosen per problem
- Independent specializts join for the parts that need them, under one contract.
- Records before dashboards
- Orders, ledgers and logs are reconciled before any recommendation depends on them.
Questions executives ask
Do you handle tax registration in the new market?
No. Tax and legal questions are for the client's advisers. We list what needs answering, such as registrations and invoicing requirements, and configure the systems once the advisers have confirmed the position.
Which markets have you worked in?
We have worked with organizations in the United Kingdom, Türkiye, Australia, the United States and the Gulf, and use local partners chosen per engagement for language and market-specific work.
